Stainless Steel 430 sheets and plates are flat-rolled ferritic grade products carrying 16.00 to 18.00% chromium and almost no nickel. Grade 430 does not respond to heat treatment, so mills supply sheet and plate annealed for pressing into panels, trim, and enclosures. Prolonged exposure between about 400 and 550 °C can cause 475 °C embrittlement, so continuous service within this temperature range is generally avoided.
