About Hastelloy Strips

Hastelloy strips are narrow, flat-rolled lengths of nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy, slit from a wider source coil and rewound for press feeding, gasket winding, or bellows forming. Molybdenum defends the metal in reducing acids such as hydrochloric and dilute sulphuric, while chromium takes over in oxidising media, and a tungsten addition sharpens resistance to pitting and crevice attack. Low carbon keeps weld heat-affected zones free of grain-boundary precipitation, so welded strip components resist corrosion as well as the parent metal. Chloride stress corrosion cracking, the failure mode that retires stainless strip from hot brine duty, barely touches these alloys. Buyers pay a nickel-alloy price for that performance and specify it where downtime costs more than material.

Slitting happens in-house across the full 3 mm to 2000 mm width range, with slit, mill, deburred, or round edges conditioned on the same pass. Coils wind on inner diameters of 150 mm to 610 mm and outer diameters up to 1800 mm. Mill documentation follows each source coil through to the finished width, and technical data sheets are available on request.

Grades We Supply

We slit and stock the Hastelloy winding strip in 2 grades, C276 and C22. Both share the Ni-Mo-Cr-W alloy system; the balance between molybdenum and chromium decides where each one serves.

Spiral-wound gasket windings, bellows for expansion joints and valves, spring elements, seal diaphragms, and instrument bellows survive the acid mixtures that destroy stainless equipment. Chlorination circuits and cellulose acetate plants order the grade year after year because one alloy covers both the oxidising and reducing legs of the process. Gasket windings slit as narrow as 3 mm come off the same coils.

Flue gas desulphurisation systems concentrate chlorides and sulphuric acid condensate at the wet-dry interface. Here, the alloy is formed into bellows for FGD expansion joints, spring-energised seals for oxidising service, diaphragms for scrubber instrumentation, and gasket windings for oxidising-acid duty. C22 holds up at that wet-dry boundary because its oxidising-media resistance matches the ferric and cupric species the flue stream carries.
