What are Stainless Steel 430 Coils?

Stainless Steel 430 coil is a continuous flat-rolled length of ferritic grade built around 16.00 to 18.00% chromium with almost no nickel. That chromium raises a passive oxide film for oxidation and mild-corrosion service, while the ferritic structure keeps the alloy magnetic and priced below austenitic 304. It is not hardenable by heat treatment, so mills ship these stainless steel coils annealed for forming into panels, trim, and appliance bodies.

As a reliable 430 Stainless Steel Coil supplier, we stock these coils as ready inventory, sourced from reputed primary mills. Cold rolled coil arrives in 2B or bright annealed finish from 0.03 mm, while hot rolled coil covers the heavier gauges up to 5 mm. Every coil carries EN 10204 Type 3.1 / 3.2 documentation when requested and stays ferromagnetic throughout.

Chemical Composition of Stainless Steel 430 Coils

Chromium is what defines Grade 430. At 16 to 18%, it forms the protective oxide that gives the coil its corrosion and scaling resistance without any nickel addition. The full ASTM A240 limits follow.

Element Composition (% by weight)
Carbon (C) 0.12 max
Manganese (Mn) 1.00 max
Silicon (Si) 1.00 max
Phosphorus (P) 0.040 max
Sulphur (S) 0.030 max
Chromium (Cr) 16.00 to 18.00
Iron (Fe) Balance

Mechanical Properties of Stainless Steel 430 Coils

Formability drives most Type 430 coil orders. Annealed material reaches a 450 MPa minimum tensile strength with 22% elongation, so blanks bend and draw without cracking. Grade 430 is not a hardness grade, and coils carry no temper ladder.

Property Value (Annealed)
Tensile Strength, minimum
450 MPa (65 ksi)
Yield Strength (0.2% offset), minimum
205 MPa (30 ksi)
Elongation in 50 mm, minimum
22%
Hardness, Rockwell B, maximum
89 HRB
Hardness, Brinell, maximum
183 HBW

Equivalent Grades of Stainless Steel 430 Coils

Procurement teams ordering UNS S43000 coil, EN 1.4016 material, or SUS 430 coil under a local code can match designations through the table below.

Country / Standard Designation
USA (UNS) S43000
Europe (EN) X6Cr17
Germany (W.Nr) 1.4016
Japan (JIS) SUS 430
China (GB) 10Cr17
Russia (GOST) 12Х17
UK (BS) 430S17

Industrial Applications of Stainless Steel 430 Coils

These 4 industries utilise most of the 430 stainless steel coils we stock. Each value oxidation resistance, a magnetic ferritic structure, and a lower cost than nickel-bearing grades.

Stainless Steel 430 Coils used in Kitchen and Appliance Panels

Kitchen and Appliance Panels

Appliance builders press SS 430 coils into dishwasher linings, refrigerator side panels, microwave cavities, and sink bowls. The grade takes a clean 2B or bright annealed finish that resists staining under domestic cleaning agents. It costs less than 304 and holds shape through deep-draw pressing.

Stainless Steel 430 Coils used in Automotive Trim and Exhaust

Automotive Trim and Exhaust

Vehicle fabricators form Type 430 coil into decorative trim, wiper arms, and exhaust muffler bodies. The ferritic structure tolerates cyclic heat better than carbon steel and resists road-salt oxidation on cosmetic parts. Its magnetic response suits mounting hardware, and the bright finish supports exterior detailing.

Stainless Steel 430 Coils used in Architectural Cladding and Panelling

Architectural Cladding and Panelling

Architects and interior fitters choose 430 stainless steel coils in bright annealed finish for lift interiors, wall cladding, and signage. The reflective surface stays presentable indoors where chloride exposure is mild. Panels form and fold without cracking, and the grade holds a consistent lustre at a moderate price.

Stainless Steel 430 Coils used in Furnace and Heat-Resisting Components

Furnace and Heat-Resisting Components

Industrial equipment makers cut SS 430 coils into burner shrouds, furnace liners, and heat-exchanger baffles. The grade resists scaling in intermittent service to roughly 815 °C and expands less than austenitic steel through repeated firing, which reduces distortion in large heated fabrications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What finishes are available for SS 430 Coils?

We supply SS 430 coils in 2B, BA (Bright Annealed), Matte, and Matte PVC finishes. BA suits decorative and appliance work, 2B suits general forming.

Can Stainless Steel 430 Coils be welded?

Yes, 430 coils are welded by conventional TIG and MIG methods. Pre-heating near 150 to 230 °C and a post-weld anneal around 760 to 815 °C restore ductility in the heat-affected zone.

How do SS 430 and SS 304 Coils differ?

Grade 430 is ferritic, has 16-18% chromium, practically no nickel and remains magnetic at a lower cost. SS 304 is austenitic with 18% chromium and 8% nickel for greater corrosion resistance in more severe or wet service.

Do you export SS 430 Coils outside India?

Yes, we export 430 coils worldwide, on FOB, CIF, CFR, and EXW terms from Mumbai port. Every export shipment carries EN 10204 Type 3.1 / 3.2 mill test certificates upon request.

Where can I source SS 430 Coils in Mumbai?

You can get AISI 430 Coils at Riddhi Siddhi Impex. We are a supplier, stockist & exporter of ferritic coil stock in our warehouses at Mumbai and Taloja ready for dispatch. We serve buyers across India & overseas.
