Stainless Steel 317L foils are ultra-thin flat stock rolled from a low-carbon austenitic grade carrying 3.0 to 4.0% molybdenum. This higher molybdenum content, a full percentage point above 316L, prevents chloride pitting and sulphuric acid attack even in foil only hundredths of a millimetre thick. Chromium at 18.0 to 20.0% and nickel at 11.0 to 15.0% keep the structure austenitic and non-magnetic, while a 0.030% carbon ceiling protects welded foil seams from sensitisation.
As a reliable supplier of Stainless Steel 317L Foils, we slit every 317L foil in-house rather than trading fixed mill widths. Stainless Steel Foils leave annealed soft, since the grade carries no temper ladder, in widths from 3 mm to 2000 mm at ±0.1 mm. BA, 2B, Matte, and Matte PVC surfaces cover gasket, diaphragm, and lining work.
