Duplex 2205 sheets and plates are flat-rolled stainless steel built on a two-phase microstructure, roughly half austenite and half ferrite. A chemistry of 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum, boosted with nitrogen, gives a PREN of about 35. The grade withstands chloride pitting and stress corrosion cracking that defeat 304 and 316, and its yield strength is nearly twice the austenitic level.
