What are Inconel 600 Sheets and Plates?

Inconel 600 sheets and plates are nickel-chromium-iron alloy flat products holding a minimum of 72% nickel, which makes them resistant to oxidation and corrosion at high temperatures. Its chromium lifts performance in oxidising atmospheres, and the nickel base resists chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking and caustic alkalis. Flat products serve continuously up to about 1093 °C. It is widely applied in high-performance industrial applications like heat treatment and aerospace equipment.

We stock this grade in cold-rolled sheets from 0.8 mm and hot-rolled plates in standard width sizes. Material ships annealed to ASTM B168, in 2B or BA finishes with mill test certification. Our inventory can hold up to 1000 tonnes annually.

Chemical Composition of Inconel 600 Sheets & Plates

Nickel defines this grade. UNS N06600 carries 72% nickel minimum, with 14 to 17% chromium for oxidation resistance and 6 to 10% iron. The full ASTM B168 composition appears below.

Element Composition (%)
Nickel (Ni) 72.0 min
Chromium (Cr) 14.0 to 17.0
Iron (Fe) 6.0 to 10.0
Carbon (C) 0.15 max
Manganese (Mn) 1.00 max
Silicon (Si) 0.50 max
Copper (Cu) 0.50 max
Sulphur (S) 0.015 max

Mechanical Properties of Inconel 600 Sheets & Plates

Tensile strength anchors the mechanical data. Annealed Alloy 600 plate meets a 550 MPa minimum, and cold-rolled sheet matches it with higher elongation. Both conditions per ASTM B168 appear below.

Property Hot-Rolled Plate Cold-Rolled Sheet
Tensile Strength, minimum
550 MPa (80 ksi) 550 MPa (80 ksi)
Yield Strength (0.2% offset), minimum
240 MPa (35 ksi) 205 MPa (30 ksi)
Elongation in 50 mm, minimum
30% 35%

Industrial Applications of Inconel 600 Sheets & Plates

These 4 industries widely use the Inconel 600 sheets and plates we supply, chosen for oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength.

Inconel 600 Sheets & Plates used in Chemical and Petrochemical Processing

Chemical and Petrochemical Processing

Chemical plants line reactor vessels and heat exchangers with Nickel Alloy 600 plate where hot chlorides and caustic soda damage lesser metals. These Inconel sheets and plates resist chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking, which splits austenitic stainless steel.

Inconel 600 Sheets & Plates used in Heat Treatment Equipment

Heat Treatment Equipment

Furnace builders form Alloy 600 sheet into muffles, retorts, radiant tubes, and fixture baskets. The grade holds strength and resists scaling in oxidising and carburising atmospheres to about 1093 °C.

Inconel 600 Sheets & Plates used in Nuclear Engineering

Nuclear Engineering

Nuclear steam generators and reactor components use Inconel 600 plate for its low corrosion rate in high-purity water. The alloy pairs high-temperature strength with resistance to caustic and chloride environments.

Inconel 600 Sheets & Plates used in Aerospace and Gas Turbine Components

Aerospace and Gas Turbine Components

Aerospace fabricators specify Inconel 600 sheet to AMS 5540 for exhaust systems, ducting, and turbine seal rings. The grade holds strength through repeated heating and cooling, and resists oxidation at red heat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What specification covers Inconel 600 Sheets and Plates?

Inconel 600 sheets and plates are covered by ASTM B168 and its ASME equivalent SB-168, with AMS 5540 for aerospace sheets. These standards set the chemistry, mechanical minimums, and tolerances for UNS N06600.

What is the chemical composition of Inconel 600 Sheet and Plate?

The chemical composition of Inconel 600 sheet and plate is 72% nickel minimum, 14 to 17% chromium and 6 to 10% iron with carbon to 0.15% maximum and controlled limits on manganese, silicon, copper and sulphur.

What is the difference between Inconel 600 Sheet and Inconel 600 Plate?

The main difference between Inconel 600 sheet and plate is in thickness and rolling. The sheet is cold rolled to about 10 mm whereas the plate is hot rolled in 3 mm and above gauges. Both conform to ASTM B168.

What thickness range is available for Inconel 600 Sheets and Plates?

We supply Inconel 600 sheets from 0.8 mm and plates in heavier gauges, in widths up to standard sizes.

Can Inconel 600 Plates be welded, and what precautions are needed?

Inconel 600 plates can be welded by common processes using a matching nickel-alloy filler. Joints must stay clean and free of sulphur, which the alloy won't tolerate at temperature. Fabricated plate can be stress-relieved at 982 to 1010 °C for one hour.

Do you supply Inconel 600 Sheets with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates?

Yes, we supply Inconel 600 sheets and plates with EN 10204 Type 3.1 and 3.2 mill test certificates on request. Each confirms chemistry and mechanical properties with full traceability.

Where can I find a reliable Inconel 600 Sheet supplier in India?

You can source reliable Inconel 600 Sheets from Riddhi Siddhi Impex. We keep a ready stock at our Mumbai warehouse for quick dispatch. As suppliers, stockists, and exporters, we serve buyers across India and overseas, providing quotations within 24 hours.
