Stainless Steel 409 foil is a thin-gauge ferritic chromium stainless steel stabilised with titanium and carrying 10.5 to 11.7% chromium. The titanium locks up carbon and nitrogen as carbonitrides, so welded zones keep their ductility without post-weld annealing. With almost no nickel, these stainless steel foils are the most economical stainless grade, magnetic in every condition, and chosen where oxidation resistance at moderate heat matters more than raw strength. Stainless Steel 409 foil finds typical use in automotive heat shields, flexible exhaust couplings, spacer gaskets, and industrial silencer wraps.
As a reliable 409 Stainless Steel foil supplier, every 409 foil that is issued from our plant is cold-rolled and slit in-house from stainless steel coil rather than resold as mill width. Material ships in the annealed soft condition to ASTM A240 in any width from 3 mm to 2000 mm at thicknesses reaching the ultra-thin gauge range. Buyers pick 2B, BA, or matte finishes with slit, deburred, or round edges.
