Duplex 2205 shims are precision flat spacers slit from two-phase stainless steel, roughly half austenite and half ferrite. Fitters use them to fill gaps, level machinery, and correct alignment between mating faces. The 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and nitrogen chemistry pushes the PREN above 35, so a 2205 shim holds its exact thickness in chloride service that pits 304 or 316 spacers. Yield strength near double the austenitic level allows a thin section to carry clamping load without deforming. These shims are used in marine and desalination plants, oil and gas industries, and more.
We slit DSS 2205 shim in any width from 3 mm to 2000 mm, in soft annealed condition to ASTM A240, with the finish and edge that your assembly needs.
