Stainless steel shims are thin flat spacers fitted between mating surfaces to fill gaps, level machine bases, and correct alignment during assembly. A fitter slips one behind a bearing housing or under a machine foot to true up the fit. Chromium above 10.5% builds a self-repairing oxide film, so the shim holds its thickness where plain steel packing would corrode and loosen. Buyers also call the product SS shims, packing shims, or stainless steel shim stock.
Every shim we offer is precision-slit from full-width coil at our own facility. Thickness runs from 0.03 mm to 5 mm. Material ships flat or as a stainless steel shim stock roll for convenient trimming on site. Deburred and round edges are available where specified. Ready stock at our Taloja and Mumbai warehouses covers fast-moving grades, and mill documentation provided upon request follows each batch from source coil to slit width.
