What are Hastelloy C22 Coils?

Hastelloy C22 Coils are flat-rolled nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy, valued for holding up in oxidising and reducing media alike. Chromium at 20.0 to 22.5% shields the surface in oxidising service. Molybdenum at 12.5 to 14.5%, backed by tungsten, blocks pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing acids and chlorides. A tight 0.015% carbon ceiling limits carbide precipitation, so welded parts keep their corrosion resistance without post-weld treatment. These Hastelloy Coils are used in chemical and petrochemical industries and pharmaceuticals.

As a trusted Hastelloy coil supplier, we buy source coils of this Ni-Cr-Mo-W alloy from reputed primary producers and slit them to width on our own lines. UNS N06022 coils ship in the annealed mill condition, in BA or 2B finish.

Mechanical Properties of Hastelloy C22 Coils

Annealed N06022 coils carry a minimum tensile strength of 690 MPa with 45% elongation, so they form, press, and deep-draw without cracking. ASTM B575 sets the minimums below.

Property Value (Annealed)
Tensile Strength, minimum
690 MPa (100 ksi)
Yield Strength (0.2% offset), minimum
310 MPa (45 ksi)
Elongation in 50 mm, minimum
45%

Equivalent Grades of Hastelloy C22 Coils

Buyers who order Alloy C22 Coils by a regional designation can cross-reference W.Nr 2.4602 Coils and the other equivalents below. The matching weld filler is ERNiCrMo-10.

Industrial Applications of Hastelloy C22 Coils

These 4 industries widely use the Alloy 22 Coils we dispatch. Buyers pick the grade when one circuit swings between oxidising and reducing chemistry.

Hastelloy C22 Coils used in Chemical and Petrochemical Processing

Chemical and Petrochemical Processing

Process plants use Alloy C-22 Coils in reactor linings, heat exchangers, and agitator components handling mixed acid streams. Sulphuric, nitric, and hydrochloric duties often share the same circuit, and the balanced chemistry copes with swings that push single-purpose grades out of service.

Hastelloy C22 Coils used in Pollution Control and Flue Gas Desulphurisation

Pollution Control and Flue Gas Desulphurisation

Flue gas desulphurisation systems often use these coils. Scrubber shells, inlet ducting, and stack liners run in hot chloride-laden condensate, where C22 resists the pitting and crevice attack that wet acid gas inflicts on coated steel.

Hastelloy C22 Coils used in Pharmaceutical Production

Pharmaceutical Production

Pharmaceutical plants specify Hastelloy C22 Coils for reaction vessels, transfer lines, and clean utility parts. The grade keeps product streams free of metallic contamination and withstands the acids and halide salts used in synthesis and clean-in-place cycles.

Hastelloy C22 Coils used in Pulp, Paper, and Waste Treatment

Pulp, Paper, and Waste Treatment

Bleach washers, chlorine dioxide generators, and incinerator scrubbers all draw on this alloy. Oxidising bleach chemistry favours the high chromium content, and waste-to-energy plants use C-22 Coils where flue gas composition changes from day to day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the chemical composition of Hastelloy C22 Coils?

The chemical composition of Hastelloy C22 coils per ASTM B575 is 20.0 to 22.5% chromium, 12.5 to 14.5% molybdenum, 2.5 to 3.5% tungsten, and 2.0 to 6.0% iron, with carbon capped at 0.015% and nickel as the balance.

What is the difference between Hastelloy C22 and C276 Coils?

The main difference between Hastelloy C22 and C276 coils is chromium. C22 carries 20.0 to 22.5% against 14.5 to 16.5% in C276, so it performs better in oxidising media. For hot concentrated hydrochloric acid, C276 stays the safer pick. Both ship as annealed ASTM B575 coils.

What thickness range is available for Hastelloy C22 Coils?

We supply Hastelloy C22 coils in thicknesses from 0.03 mm to 5 mm and widths from 3 mm to 2000 mm, slit to ±0.1 mm. It's all held as ready stock in the annealed condition.

What is the price of Hastelloy C22 Coils per kg?

The price of Hastelloy C-22 coils is around ₹2,700 to ₹4,400 per kg in India, roughly $29 to $46 per kg for export buyers. Thickness, width, finish, quantity, and prevailing nickel rates all shift the figure, so contact us for a firm quote.
