What are Nickel 201 Shims?

A Nickel 201 shim is a precision-thickness spacer slit from commercially pure low-carbon nickel, a grade holding 99.0% minimum nickel. The metal is ferromagnetic, melts across the 1435-1446 °C range, and carries a density of 8.89 g/cm³. Its 0.02% carbon ceiling keeps grain boundaries stable in hot service. Assemblers fit the shims at flange joints, seal faces, and instrument mounts to close a gap exactly.
