Super duplex steel shims are thin flat spacers slit from solution annealed strip, used to set gaps and align machinery where ordinary stainless would pit. Fitters place them under pump feet, valve mounts, and flange faces to correct machined tolerances. The material carries a balanced microstructure of roughly half austenite and half ferrite, giving it more than double the yield strength of standard austenitic grades. Chromium near 25%, molybdenum at 3 to 5%, and a deliberate nitrogen addition push the pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) above 40. That threshold separates super duplex from standard duplex, and it means a shim can sit in hot chloride service that pits 316L. High strength matters too. A thinner shim carries the same bolt load without creeping, so joints stay aligned between maintenance shutdowns.
As a reliable Super Duplex Stainless Steel shim Supplier, our warehouse holds source coil in two super duplex grades ready for slitting. Cold rolled thicknesses are from 0.03 mm up to 5 mm, all supplied soft in the solution annealed condition. Every coil arrives with mill documentation upon request, so each slit shim order traces back to its original heat. Buyers send a width and thickness; we slit, condition the edges where required and pack for dispatch. Urgent requirements will be issued from the warehouse in 2 to 3 days, against the standard 4 to 5.

Bright annealing under a protective atmosphere leaves a reflective, oxide-free surface suited to instrumentation and gauge shims.
2B
The 2B finish comes from cold rolling followed by annealing and pickling. Most of our super duplex shim stock ships this way.
Matte
Matte-finished shims keep reflection low. A PVC film can be added for surface protection during handling and installation.

Super Duplex S32760 Shims are specified here for tungsten-enhanced crevice corrosion resistance in permanent seawater contact.
