Stainless Steel 316L strip is a low-carbon austenitic flat product carrying 16 to 18% chromium, 10 to 14% nickel, and 2 to 3% molybdenum. Carbon stops at 0.030%. That ceiling protects welded strip assemblies from sensitisation without any post-weld anneal, while the molybdenum defends the passive film where chlorides would pit plain 304, which is why tube mills and marine fabricators specify the grade so often.
At our Mumbai warehouse, 316L stainless steel strips begin as parent coil from established primary mills and pass through our own slitting lines. We keep the material annealed and soft to ASTM A240, slit it anywhere between 3 mm and 2000 mm wide, and dispatch with mill test certificates when requested.
