What are Nickel 200 Foils?

Nickel 200 foils are ultra-thin gauges of commercially pure wrought nickel, rolled down to 0.03 mm for work where sheet and strip run too heavy. The grade holds 99.0% minimum nickel plus cobalt, a density of 8.89 g/cm³, and a melting range of 1435-1446 °C. Conductivity and caustic resistance drive most foil orders. Because carbon may reach 0.15%, continuous service stays below 315 °C, past which graphitisation embrittles the metal. Cell makers spot-weld the foil into battery tabs; instrument builders cut it into electrodes and transducer laminations.
