Hastelloy C22 strip is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy, cold rolled and slit to close tolerances. Chromium at 20 to 22.5% protects the strip in oxidising media, while molybdenum at 12.5 to 14.5% and tungsten at 2.5 to 3.5% block pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing acids. Few grades cover both sides of the corrosion spectrum this evenly. Carbon is held to 0.015% max, so welded parts keep their resistance without post-weld treatment.
