What are Incoloy 825 Sheets & Plates?

Incoloy 825 sheets and plates are nickel-iron-chromium alloy flat products stabilised with molybdenum, copper, and titanium. The high nickel content resists chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking, while molybdenum and copper handle reducing acids such as sulphuric and phosphoric. Chromium provides oxidation resistance, and titanium reduces susceptibility to sensitisation after welding. Incoloy 825 is typically used in chemical processing equipment and oil well piping.

We stock this grade as cold-rolled sheets from 0.8 mm and hot-rolled plates in heavier gauges, 1000 to 1500 mm wide. Material ships annealed to ASTM B424, in 2B or BA finishes, each backed by a mill test certificate. Custom slitting trims sheets to your required width.

Industrial Applications of Incoloy 825 Sheets & Plates

These 4 industries commonly use Incoloy 825 sheets and plates we supply, each drawing on the alloy's acid resistance and freedom from chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Incoloy 825 Sheets & Plates used in Chemical and Petrochemical Processing

Chemical and Petrochemical Processing

Chemical plants build reactor linings, tanks, and pickling equipment from Alloy 825 sheet where sulphuric and phosphoric acids attack lesser metals. The copper and molybdenum content holds up in reducing acids and resists pitting.

Incoloy 825 Sheets & Plates used in Oil and Gas Industry

Oil and Gas Industry

Sour-service operators specify Nickel Alloy 825 plates for downhole hardware, separators, and pressure housings exposed to hydrogen sulphide and brines. The high nickel base resists the chloride stress corrosion cracking that splits standard stainless steel in hot, saline service.

Incoloy 825 Sheets & Plates used in Pharmaceutical and Food Processing Equipment

Pharmaceutical and Food Processing Equipment

Pharmaceutical fabricators form Incoloy 825 sheet into vessels and heat exchangers that contact acidic intermediates and cleaning agents. The titanium-stabilised structure holds its corrosion resistance through repeated clean-in-place cycles.

Incoloy 825 Sheets & Plates used in Heat Exchangers and Condensers

Heat Exchangers and Condensers

Process engineers select Alloy 825 plates for tube sheets and condenser bodies handling seawater and acidic condensate. Its resistance to both reducing and oxidising conditions allows a single alloy to perform well in both environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ASTM specification for Incoloy 825 Sheets and Plates?

Incoloy 825 sheets and plates are covered by ASTM B424 and its ASME equivalent SB-424, with ASTM B906 for general flat-rolled requirements. These set the chemistry, mechanical minimums, and tolerances for UNS N08825.

What thicknesses are available for Incoloy 825 Sheets and Plates?

We stock Incoloy 825 sheets from 0.8 mm to 10 mm and plates in 10 mm and above, with widths 1000 to 1500 mm. Custom thicknesses are cut to order, subject to mill availability.

What is the difference between Incoloy 825 and SS 316 in Sheet and Plate form?

The main difference is that Alloy 825 plates resist reducing acids and chloride stress corrosion cracking far better than SS 316, owing to higher nickel plus copper and titanium. SS 316 suits general service, while Incoloy 825 handles aggressive chemical environments.

What mill test certificates do you provide with Incoloy 825 Plates?

We provide EN 10204 Type 3.1 and 3.2 mill test certificates with Incoloy 825 plates on request, along with material test reports. Third-party inspection can also be arranged before dispatch.
