What is Incoloy 800 Foil?

Incoloy 800 foil is a thin, cold-rolled nickel-iron-chromium alloy holding 30 to 35% nickel, 19 to 23% chromium, and a minimum 39.5% iron, with small aluminium and titanium additions. That balance keeps an austenitic structure through thermal cycling and resists oxidation, carburisation, and high-temperature corrosion. The grade resists oxidation up to roughly 1093 °C and carries continuous load-bearing service to about 815 °C, serving in furnace parts, heating elements, and process equipment. These Incoloy Foils are specified in food processing, heat exchangers, and more.

We process every Alloy 800 foil in-house on our own slitting lines. Material leaves in annealed soft condition to ASTM B409, slit to any width from 3 mm to 2000 mm. Buyers can specify BA, 2B, or Matte surfaces and slit, deburred, or round edges.

Chemical Composition of Incoloy 800 Foils

Nickel and iron define this grade. UNS N08800 foil balances 30 to 35% nickel against a 39.5% minimum iron, while chromium at 19 to 23% forms the oxide layer that resists scaling. Controlled aluminium and titanium keep the alloy stable at temperature. The full ASTM B409 composition appears below.

Element Composition (%)
Nickel (Ni) 30.0 to 35.0
Chromium (Cr) 19.0 to 23.0
Iron (Fe) 39.5 min
Carbon (C) 0.10 max
Manganese (Mn) 1.50 max
Silicon (Si) 1.00 max
Copper (Cu) 0.75 max
Sulphur (S) 0.015 max
Aluminium (Al) 0.15 to 0.60
Titanium (Ti) 0.15 to 0.60

Mechanical Properties of Incoloy 800 Foils

Annealed Alloy 800 foil pairs a 520 MPa minimum tensile strength with 30% elongation, so it forms and draws without cracking. Under ASTM B409, the yield and elongation minimums apply to material 0.508 mm and thicker, so figures for thinner gauges are indicative. Foils leave in soft annealed condition only, so no temper ladder applies.

Property Value
Tensile Strength, minimum
520 MPa (75 ksi)
Yield Strength (0.2% offset), minimum
205 MPa (30 ksi)
Elongation in 50 mm, minimum

Industrial Applications of Incoloy 800 Foils

These 4 industries use most of the Incoloy 800 foils we slit. In each case, the buyer selects the grade for oxidation resistance, carburisation resistance, or stability at high temperature.

Incoloy 800 Foils used in Chemical and Petrochemical Processing

Chemical and Petrochemical Processing

Chemical plants fit Alloy 800 foil into reactor internals, gaskets, shims, and spacers exposed to hot, oxidising streams. The nickel-iron-chromium matrix resists stress-corrosion cracking and oxidising acids where standard stainless steel degrades, holding its strength through repeated process cycles.

Incoloy 800 Foils used in Power Generation and Industrial Heating

Power Generation and Industrial Heating

Power and heating equipment builders specify Incoloy 800 foil for heating element sheathing, thermocouple protection, and furnace components. The alloy carries load-bearing service to around 815 °C and resists scaling well above it, keeping its austenitic structure, so sheathed elements survive long runs.

Incoloy 800 Foils used in Heat Exchangers and Process Equipment

Heat Exchangers and Process Equipment

Thin-gauge Alloy 800 foil suits heat exchanger gaskets, expansion joints, and bellows in thermal cycling duty. The grade resists oxidation and carburisation and does not embrittle under repeated heating and cooling, so sealing parts hold their clearance over long service.

Incoloy 800 Foils used in Food Processing

Food Processing

Food processing lines use Incoloy 800 foil in hygienic equipment and heating hardware handling organic acids and process solutions. The alloy resists corrosion from acidic media and cleaning cycles, while custom-slit widths let fabricators form components that fit tight layouts.

Incoloy 800 Foils Price

Incoloy 800 Foils price in India is around ₹1,200 to ₹ 2,000 per kg, and for international buyers it generally runs $12 to $20 per kg. Incoloy Foil gauge, finish, width, and quantity all move the figure, and the grade tracks global nickel rates. This range is indicative, so call or WhatsApp us for today's rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What thickness range is available for Incoloy 800 Foils?

We slit Incoloy 800 foils from 0.03 mm to 0.08 mm thick and to any width between 3 mm and 2000 mm, with width held to ±0.1 mm. Gauge, width, and finish follow your specification.

What is the chemical composition of Incoloy 800 Foils per ASTM B409?

Incoloy 800 foils contain 30.0 to 35.0% nickel, 19.0 to 23.0% chromium, a minimum 39.5% iron, and aluminium and titanium at 0.15 to 0.60% each, with carbon held to 0.10% maximum per ASTM B409.

What is the difference between Incoloy 800 and 800H Foils?

The difference is that Incoloy 800 (UNS N08800) holds carbon to 0.10% maximum and Incoloy 800H (UNS N08810) uses a controlled 0.05 to 0.10% carbon range and a coarser grain size for higher creep strength. Choose 800H foils for prolonged service above 600 °C.

What is the maximum service temperature for Incoloy 800 Foils?

Incoloy 800 foils suit continuous service up to about 816 °C (1500 °F) and resist oxidation to around 1093 °C. For load-bearing service above ~600 °C, Incoloy 800H or 800HT foils offer better creep and rupture strength.

What is the lead time for Incoloy 800 Foil orders?

Standard dispatch runs 4 to 5 days from ready stock, and urgent orders can leave in 2 to 3 days. We hold Incoloy 800 foil inventory to keep delivery quick.
